Play Parties 101: Navigating Play with Comfort and Safety
A workshop for anyone interested in the lifestyle, swinging or play parties - regardless of experience level. Led by a trauma-informed relationship coach specializing in alternative relationship styles, the focus is on navigating play parties, including when attending with one or more partner(s). Some topics covered include:
- Consent & unlearning coercion culture
- Navigating agreements & boundaries
- Safer sex practices
- Communication skills & facilitating connection with partner(s) before, during & after
- Ways to care for your mind & body, before, during & after
Participants will be invited to reflect on their own experiences, engage in thought-provoking conversations, and leave with practical skills to increase their confidence when navigating play spaces.
Bio:
Nicole Sonnefeldt, MA (she/her) is an alternative relationship coach and consultant and the founder of Freeform Coaching: Relationship Coaching for Conscious Non-Monogamy. A former trauma and couple's therapist with a Master's in Counseling Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, Nicole started Freeform with the mission to help the various non-monogamous and queer communities she is a part of, without having to step away from her participation in the ways helping the community as a professional counselor would have required.
Nicole blends her personal experience as a queer woman in the lifestyle, non-monogamy, kink and sex work with her professional training and expertise to assist individuals, couples and polycules in creating intentional and equitable relationships of all shapes and sizes. Additionally, Nicole is passionate about sex worker advocacy: providing education to Counseling Psychology Graduate students and mental health professionals on affirming care, guiding mental health research aimed at supporting sex workers, and offering sex workers affordable, affirming relationship coaching.
