Parenting is never simple, and when a child comes out as LGBTQIA+, it can
bring new questions, emotions, and challenges. Open Tent is an evening for
Jewish parents, caregivers, and loved ones of LGBTQIA+ youth to connect with
one another, share experiences, and feel the support of a broader community
that sees and celebrates them and their children just as they are.
The evening will include a brief panel of parents and professionals, including
Rabbi Arnie Sleutelberg (Rabbi Emeritus of Shir Tikvah), Roz Keith (proud
Jewish parent and founder of Stand with Trans) and Joel Davidson (educator and
professional counselor), followed by intentional networking and conversation.
Kosher desserts will be served, and guests will leave with a resource guide
and optional tools to stay connected after the event.
Whether you’re beginning this journey for the first time or have been walking
it for years, you’re not alone. This gathering is here to remind you that
connections and support are always within reach.
