Folk stalwarts Tom Paxton, Cathy Fink, and Marcy Marxer began weekly Zoom songwriting sessions early in the COVID lockdown. They’ve continued these sessions even as COVID restrictions have eased, have released All New, a recording of the songs they composed, and have been touring to perform these compositions, as well as old favorites.
There’s something for everyone in their new songs: bluegrass, folk, a cappella, spoken word, and just as wide a range of emotions. Tom Paxton has been an integral part of the songwriting and folk music community since the early 60’s Greenwich Village scene and continues to be a primary influence on today’s “New Folk” performers. His songs, first popularized by Pete Seeger include “Ramblin’ Boy”, “Can’t Help but Wonder Where I’m Bound”, “The Marvelous Toy”, and “The Last Thing on my Mind”, among many others.
Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer are two-time Grammy® Award Winners with a career spanning over 35 years. Their superb harmonies are backed by instrumental virtuosity on the guitar, five-string banjo, ukulele, mandolin, cello-banjo, and more. Their repertoire ranges from classic country to western swing, gypsy jazz to bluegrass, and old-time string band to contemporary folk in addition to their original compositions. Cathy & Marcy have performed at hundreds of bluegrass and folk festivals and taught at close to 100 music camps worldwide.
Together, Tom Paxton, Cathy Fink, and Marcy Marxer have melded their musical styles and polished their new and old compositions. Their concert performance will include both old and new material and please new and old fans alike.
