Event Description

May 1st 1966 – the Beatles give their last ever scheduled UK Live performance atthe NME Pollwinners Show at the Empire Pool, Wembley (now Wembley Arena).
Also on the same bill were The Spencer Davis Group, The Fortunes, Herman’s Hermits, Roy Orbison, The Overlanders, The Alan Price Set, Cliff Richard and The Shadows, The Rolling Stones, The Seekers, The Small Faces, Sounds Incorporated, Dusty Springfield, Crispian St Peters, The Walker Brothers, The Who, The Yardbirds and Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. Must have been some show!!
Most of the show was broadcast by ABC TV, but the managers of the Beatles and the Rolling Stones hadn’tagreed terms for their artists to be shown, so the cameras were turned off during their performances. However the Beatles were filmed receiving their awards.
