Fill crock pot 3/4 full:
onion, garlic, cumin and/or chilipowder, red beans, black beans, fresh chopped or canned veggies (e.g. bell peppers, carrots, celery), canned tomatoes, and cilantro (and freshto serve with)
Add water, broth to just barely cover.
Salt, pepper, and something spicy to taste. e.g. cayenne, smoked paprika
Cook on highfor 4 hrs, low for 6-8 hrs.
No saute needed, but does help bring out the flavors
Serve with sour cream, shredded cheese, or greek yogurt
