Join us for our inagural bookstore bus extravaganza! We're starting small, with three busses going in three directions. We want to make sure our more far flung stores are getting the IBD crawl love, and what better way to explore these stores than with a comfy bus to cart you around!
Each rider will recieve an IBD passport as well as some Chicago IBD Swag!
Each direction will visit 6+ stores from 9am (leaving at 9am sharp, so please arrive early), downtown Chicago and returning to the same spot around 4pm. All routes will meet outside of Exile in Bookville (410 S Michigan Ave) which is in the Fine Arts Building just a block south of the Art Institute. Exile will be open at 8am, and the store located within two blocks of almost every El line, and about a mile (20 minute walk) from Union Station. If you need to park, we suggest looking up Spot Hero for spots near Exile at a deep discount.
A CHIBA (Chicagoland Indie Bookstore Asso) will be on board to keep everyone moving.
In the event a bus route fills up, there will be a waitlist. If we have enough for another bus, we will get one!
North Route: Booked - Evanston, Bookends & Beginnings - Evanston, Book Bin - Northbrook, Book Stall-Winnetka, Lake Forest Bookstore - Lake Forest, Book Cellar - Lincoln Square, Women & Children First - Andersonville (riders will be given the option to exit here and snag Understudy/Uncharted etc to fill their 10 store passport).
West Route: Town House Books - St. Charles, Harvey's Tales - Geneva, Prairie Path Books - Wheaton, Bookstore of Glen Ellyn, The Pile - Berwyn, Los Amigos Books - Berwyn, Centuries & Sleuths - Forest Park, The Book Table - Oak Park, Mad Street Books - Chicago.
