Event Description

The world continues to become more interconnected and our continuous reliance on information systems and technology in both our professional and personal lives means the days of looking at cybersecurity as a nice-to-have rather than a necessity are long gone.

Cybersecurity continues to be both a board-level and front-page issue in the news. Whether it is the recently released SEC Cyber Disclosure Rule, the House Select Committee bringing to the forefront the ongoing nation-state threats against the US, even going as far as to call some out by name, the cyber warfare tactics seen in Ukraine, or the latest data breach announcement, not a day goes by where cybersecurity is not top-of-mind.

With the recognition that commercial organizations continue to incur a significant brunt of these activities, our panel will discuss the challenges companies are facing today from several different perspectives. We will additionally cover considerations for managing through the cybersecurity challenges being faced by companies in the near and long term.

During our agenda, we will address:

What is happening around world as it relates to cybersecurity
• Increased regulatory scrutiny both within the US and abroad on a range of cybersecurity topics – executive leadership and boards of directors are being challenged to put cyber-risk in context with business operations and its enterprise risks
• The digital supply chain impact as progress on cloud adoption continues to increase and the increased usage of third-party service and technology providers
• Generative AI and machine learning applications – both from a bad actor perspective and usage by cybersecurity professionals to protect their organizations
• Threat actors are continuing to target organizations and infrastructure in manner where the monetization of their activities is easier to complete (e.g., ransomware leading to payment from a company vs. stealing data and spending time finding a buyer)
• The lingering impact of the Covid crisis specific on how we work including the challenges on return to office and what that means from a cybersecurity perspective

Evolving trends and what areas should companies focus on to get ahead
• Data will fuel risk and opportunity in cyber - Data will serve as an increasingly valuable business and cyber asset but with tightening regulation and growing risk to organizations
• Identity is the new perimeter - Changing borders of the workplace and IT landscape have forced a shift from network boundaries to a focus on digital identity defenses
• Tomorrow’s cyber workforce is being built today - The “war for talent” is driving investments into internal staff development through both retooling and upskilling the workforce
• Responsibility must align with “as a service” - Complex vendor ecosystem requires constant alignment and communications while also adapting to evolving technologies and regulatory needs
• Automation will drive action over alerts – As the sophistication and skill set required by bad actors to execute malicious activities continues to reduce, automation (and the application of Generative AI) will need to extend beyond detection and orchestration to drive decisioning in near real time
• Cyber service and platform markets will consolidate – We continue to see vendor convergence within the cybersecurity market to expand core capabilities, drive margin, enhance interoperability, and unify disparate solutions to enable added value from current tooling and reduce the number of vendor products within a company

Looking ahead
• Cyber-related regulations and oversight are not going away – how do companies continue to integrate these requirements into day-to-day activities, so they do not become overburdensome, or worse, forgotten.
• Continued cyber considerations for extending AI and Cloud adoption
• How to improve usage and collaboration with third party cybersecurity services providers
