Freak Society's Horror Film Fest: a spooky night of film & animation

A fine selection of independent horror films and local artists’ goods await you at Freak Society’s Horror Film Festival right in the heart of spooky season! This freaky festival, curated by local filmmakers Hua Song and Eli Rayas, is designed to showcase new & upcoming artists that have a unique flair.

Come connect, meet, and network with local filmmakers & animators on October 26th!

Doors for the event open at 6pm and our screenings begin at 7pm. Screenings will last around 2 hours with a short intermission between viewings.

Tickets are sliding scale $7 - $15 in advance. Tickets will be $12 at the door.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

Freak Society's Film Festivals started in March 2023, with Shitty Garbage Poo-poo Amazing Awesome Indie Film Festival, a debut that literally overflowed with members of the indie Chicago film & animation community. The core goals of Freak Society’s festivals are to give amateur filmmakers a chance to show their work to a broader audience, and give this community the opportunity to meet possible future creative partners.

ABOUT THE CREATORS

Hua and Eli are long-time creative collaborators who met in college, and haven’t been able to find a mechanic to pry their silly brains apart. They focus their efforts on animation, particularly with experimental and comedy-based multimedia animated shorts. Ultimately, they hope to empower other upcoming artists to share their work, in order to create a stronger and more welcoming independent filmmaking community in Chicago. The creators thank you for your time and can’t wait to see you at the festival!

Dorothy is 21+ and requires physical ID for all to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Avenue. If you are a guest who requires elevator access, please stop in Split-Rail when you arrive for assistance or speak with our security person upon arrival at Dorothy.
