As the Emmy-award winning host of the long-running public media program Latino USA Maria Hinojosa has focused on uncovering Latinx stories that are often rendered invisible by mainstream media. Hinojosa’s new memoir Once I was You continues her reporting on two fronts: her own personal journey as an American immigrant and the larger political history of immigrant, women’s and civil rights. Hinojosa will be joined by Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jose Antonio Vargas (Dear America).
