ABOUT THE FILM
Beginning its global journey in Tokyo in 2015, Broken Bone Bathtub began as an immersive theatre project taking place inside a bathtub, in an actual home. After a serious bike accident, Siobhán O’Loughlin — in her mid twenties — mustered up the courage to ask for help.
She borrowed the bathtubs of friends all over New York City, and found herself in a rather vulnerable, tender, and honest space as her community supported her in taking a bath. This real life experience transformed into the interactive cult classic performance, where audience members are cast as those very friends, not only in listening to Siobhán’s story, but sharing their own, and assisting the cast-clad artist, just as had truly happened to her years ago.
In the Autumn of 2019, Siobhán fundraised for and shot her first feature length documentary, with a DP filming the last legs of her final tour. The film encapsulates those performances, and shares a deeper narrative about independent artists living today: how we can support them, and how their work enriches our lives for the better.
