The Ruby Slipper: a Black Queer Booty Club

Booty club (noun): 1) the historic, economic heart of the Black South (see also the Dirty South), 2) a hub for the culture-making work of Black strippers- the tastemakers of hip-hop, 3) a space where ass is thrown and an embodied Black queerness is fostered and fought for.

The Ruby Slipper is a Black queer pole show + party designed to center the joy and autonomy of sex workers and other embodied revolutionaries.

This event is a collaboration between organizers SabriAnan (@becoming.healing) + Jessica (@onyi3000) and the collective of Black queer performers Black Skrippa Brigade (@blackskrippabrigade), featuring DJ Cut-Cuz (@cut_cuz).

The Ruby follows the Black Southern tradition of the ‘booty club’ - reclaiming space for folk to gather and dance through the stress that members of the Black LGBTQ+ community face in the city every day.

Doors at 6pm and our performances begin at 7pm. Dorothy is open until 10pm!

Tickets are tiered:

$25 - Limited Seating / Standing Room Only
$30 - Elevated Bed Lounge - Occasional Limited Views / Guaranteed Seat
$35 - Full stage view with seating
Dorothy is 21+ and requires physical ID for all to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Avenue. If you are a guest who requires elevator access, please stop in Split-Rail when you arrive and ask for assistance or ask our security person when you reach the Dorothy door. If you are a guest who requires a seat and purchases the $25 ticket tier, please let us know and we will reserve a seat for you.
