Be the first to attend this event.

Event Description

Don't miss our first collaboration with Queer Meetup / Queer Karaoke Chicago! Doors for our event open at 6pm and we'll kick off the karaoke at 7pm til 10pm. Get in early for great seats, a cocktail and to sign up on the list.

Dorothy will be decked out as it's holiday self: Ms. & Ms. Claus! Because of this: holiday songs are highly encouraged but absolutely not required.

Dorothy is 21+ and requires a physical ID to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible! Should you require elevator access, simply reach out before the event or stop by Split-Rail when you arrive and our team can assist.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Three full hours of karaoke at one of the hottest queer cocktail bars in Chicago, in a safe & affirming environment. Since Queer Karaoke Chicago is hosting, we’ll have full control over the order in which people sing — so if you get there early, you’re guaranteed to sing at least once (but hopefully more)! If you just want to be a spectator, that’s totally cool too, there’s no pressure to sing. This is a low stakes & fun way to meet other QT Queers in our community too, so bring a friend who needs it!

HOUSE RULES

Be respectful of the equipment, the space, the neighbors, the neighborhood, the community, and everyone’s identity! This is a queer, trans, and gender non-conforming affirming space. Everyone is welcome, but we expect those in attendance to be active LGBTQ+ allies.

ABOUT OUR HOSTS

Grant Michael (He/They) has been a performer their whole life, and couldn’t imagine life without music & performance! He is a musician at heart, who studied both instruments & voice both for fun & for his degree in music education. Grant is a classically trained singer who can sing in many styles, including musical theatre, classical, opera, a cappella, and is now currently working through a voice transition from a high soprano to a baritenor. Their karaoke faves are typically older & more nostalgic tunes, but he sings a wide array of material. He is delighted to have found a community within our larger Queer sphere & to share his love of Queereoke with all!

Lauren Sitterly (She/Her) is the Queer Karaoke Chicago Intern — she helps coordinate karaoke events, take photos and videos, create social media posts, and manage equipment. She likes to sing pop punk and emo tunes, but her go-to karaoke song is (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party) by the Beastie Boys.

ABOUT THE LOUNGE

Dorothy is a neighborhood lesbian cocktail lounge for every friend of Dorothy. 70s inspired, this sexy, subterranean lounge is a safe space for all with a killer cocktail program. @dorothydownstairs
