Event Description

It's everyone's favorite time of the month: FRUIT SALAD time!

Fruit Salad is The Martin's queer open mic night hosted by Rainn! Each event features ten open mic slots and one feature performer. Starting this month we're switching things up a little bit to better accommodate more performers! our staff! your very good fun time! & the community!

Doors for Fruit Salad will open at 6:30pm and the performances will begin at 7:30pm.

Our open mic will now be determined ahead of time by a lottery system. Should you want to perform at our mic, fill out the spreadsheet that is linked in your ticket confirmation message to put yourself in the running! Five of the ten slots for the open mic will be held for BIPOC performers and the other five will be available for all interested performers. The list will be announced night-of at the event, so come ready to perform!

We are also capping our tickets at 100 guests - once we sell out we sell out, so reserve your ticket ahead of time. All donations are split between our feature performer, Rainn & a community organization of our feature's choosing.

March's feature is Mikey Murry, also known as Mikey Cody Apollo! She is a Black queer writer, filmmaker, educator, and feminist killjoy from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Most of their work explores themes such as race, gender, sex, and religion. Mikey is the author of the self-published collection of poetry titled Black Girls, Silence, and Other Things Made of Gold, which has been used in classrooms, workshops, and book clubs across the United States. When Mikey grows up, she wants to be the first Black woman to receive the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Mikey's organization of choosing for March is Love on Black Women. Love on Black Women is a people-driven fund that gives back to Black women in need. A portion of your donation will be directly given to them and we will be collecting additional donations during the performance night as well!

This event is 21+ and we require proof of vaccination and a physical ID at the door. Want to dine at Split-Rail before Fruit Salad? We highly recommend making a reservation.
