Experience 'i said what i said' at the Stony Island Arts Bank, in collaboration with Anthony Gallery!
'i said what i said' is a special exhibition featuring portraits that explore the complexity of Black experiences within everyday environments. The show’s title is a nod to Ham’s ambition to depict audacious attitudes she encourages audiences to adopt through her work. Using shades of red, Jewel highlights the beauty and innovation manifested from the hardships that accompany the Black experience. This body of work invites viewers on an emotional journey that contextualizes the need for unapologetic expression.
This exhibition is part of a yearlong collaboration between Rebuild Foundation and Anthony Gallery to spotlight the importance of Black space, Black art and Black artists at the Stony Island Arts Bank in 2022. Anthony Gallery will partner with Rebuild Foundation to provide a platform for emerging and established contemporary artists working in the field of African and Black American identity.
The exhibition will be open to the public Thursday through Sunday at the Stony Island Arts Bank from 12 PM to 6 PM from March 10 to April 10. In order to protect the health and safety of our community, guests will be asked to wear a mask and social distance.
