Event Description

Join us for an hour of jazz by the trio comprised of drummer Lily Finnegan, saxaphonist Anisha Rush & bassist Emma Dayhuff!

Doors open at 6pm and our trio kicks off at 7pm. Tickets are a sliding scale $7-15 and will be $12 at the door. Dorothy is 21+ and requires a physical ID for all to enter. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Avenue. ABOUT OUR MUSICIANS

Lily Glick Finnegan is a Chicago born and based drummer, composer, improviser, and organizer. In 2023 she was featured in the Chicago Reader as a “Chicagoan of Note”. She is a member of Ken Vandermark’s ensemble Edition Redux, who recently put out their debut album “Better A Rook Than A Pawn”. She has collaborated with artists including gabby fluke-mogul, Ken Vandermark, Shanta Nurullah, Dave Rempis, Ben Lamar Gay, Devon Gates, Macie Stewart, Ed Wilkerson, Lia Kohl, Katinka Kleijn, Fred Jackson, Jason Stein, Christof Kurmann, and Katie Ernst. In 2021 she completed a Master of Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.Prior she earned a Bachelor of Arts double major from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in sociology and music. She is one of the curators of the Option Series, a showcase of contemporary approaches to improvisation and composition held at Experimental Sound Studio. @lil.g.finn

Chicago-based bassist Emma Dayhuff is a nationally and internationally touring artist and is a graduate of the Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz Performance in Los Angeles. She is a member of the Esthesis Quartet which released their second record, Time Zones, in March 2023, and their third record, due to be released in 2025 features guitarist Bill Frisell. She attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where she studied with Peter Dominguez, Eddie Gomez, and Billy Hart. Emma has also had opportunities to share the stage with Herbie Hancock, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Helen Sung, Jeff Parker, Dee Alexander, Patricia Barber, Isaiah Collier, Corey Wilkes, Gretchen Parlato, Darcy James Argue’s Secret Society, Nicole Mitchell, Willie Pickens, Larry Willis, Victor Lewis, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Matthew Santos, rapper Fem Dot, tap dancer Jumaane Taylor, and R&B artist Zeshan B. Emma is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. @emmakday

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, CO, saxophonist, composer, and educator Anisha Rush began playing the saxophone at the age of 10 and immediately developed an interest in improvised Black American music. Anisha went on to study music and psychology, earning a BM in Jazz Studies from the Thompson Jazz Studies Program and a BA in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Anisha actively performs as bandleader of Anisha Rush and the Encounter. She has also performed alongside Makaya McCraven, Ron Miles, Matt Wilson, Dawn Clement, Shane Endsley, and more. In 2023, Anisha was selected for the Next Jazz Legacy, an apprenticeship program led by New Music USA and the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice with support from the Mellon Foundation. @ajrushmusic
