Gwendolyn Brooks was the first Black person to win a Pulitzer Prize. Celebrate the 75th anniversary of Gwendolyn Brooks’ Pulitzer Prize-winning Annie Allen with an evening of multidisciplinary art and performances! Poets avery r. young, Angela Jackson, Patricia Smith, Haki R. Madhubuti and Adrian Matejka will be joined by blues musician Billy Branch, hip hop artist Linda Sol, Makeba Malik (Curtesy of Deeply Rooted Dance Theater) and archival imagery from the Bronzeville Historical Society. Artists will perform their unique interpretations on the content and themes of Annie Allen.
