"I'm a Black Girl and I Matter" is a book of affirmations and celebration. This book serves as a love letter, a protest and a reminder that we all have great power and purpose.
Join in on the celebration! The author, Tara Levy, will read from her new children's book throughout the event. Tara is an author, artist, educator and creator of I Am Black Art LLC, an affirmation and celebration of black culture through paintings and prose, accessories and clothes. Tara uses her art to inspire and to be a vessel of joy and love.
Together we will write and share our own affirmations. This event will be a great opportunity for artists and writers alike to share during our open mic.
The book launch will take place at Juliet Art House, a new flexible space in the Chicago Arts District in Pilsen dedicated to showcasing and connecting local artists and small business owners. Founded by Chicago Public Schools teachers, Juliet Art House prioritizes community and educational partnerships in its creative practice.
Come and celebrate the book's launch and Tara's birthday!
