Building on the 2019 MSA roundtable on “The Future of Modernist Studies in an Age of Precarity," we are offering a Saturday lunchtime workshop on academic precarity. (Lunch included.) In keeping with FiMA’s theme, Feminist Revolutions, and with the rich history of consciousness raising and grassroots organizing so essential to feminism in mind, we eschew the roundtable format for a more interactive and praxis-oriented workshop. We will prioritize free writing, brainstorming, conversation, and coalition building, with the goal of creating a knowledge base from which new political postures emerge and action plans are crafted. The majority of our time in the workshop will be dedicated to sharing, listening, and processing potential feminist responses to precarity.
