Although he wouldn't perform his first official show as a Beatle until 18 August 1962, onthis day Ringo Starr performed with the group for possibly the first time.His normal group, the Hurricanes, had a rare day off, and Pete Best wasunwell. Ringo stood in for The Beatles firstly during their lunchtime showat the Cavern Club, and again in the evening for their performance at theKingsway Club in Southport.
